In Room 15 we love writing and it is something that happens in a variety of different ways each day. Whether it is handwriting, writing on the whiteboards, writing across the curriculum or writing in our writing books. The progress being made with all the children is impressive. We have just finished our new display wall for writing in our new classroom. Come and check it out and see the wonderful progress being made by the fantastic Room 15 writers!

Dog Do's and Don'ts
Yesterday we had a special visitor from Animal Management who came to talk to us about how to keep safe around dogs we don't know.
The important messages that came through was that if a dog comes running up to us we need to stand still and not run away because a dog likes to chase things that move! Also, it is important to not approach a dog that we don't know.
Here are some pictures of our learning:

It is important to look after your dog.
Abbey showing us all how to act around dogs and what happens if we run!
We must ask the owner before we can pat the dog.
Your hand must be palm up and not near the dogs head, pat them under the chin.

Celebrating Autumn
To celebrate Autumn and the rapidly cooling weather we spent one of our writing sessions writing about autumn.
Then we sketched and colored in our beautiful Autumn leaves that we found. They look beautiful in the spot above the window and have really brightened up our new classroom! Check them out below:

Science Ignition Day
On Tuesday 1st of May it was the Reremoana Science Ignition Day. This was a day that exposed the children to three different science activities for the middle block of the day. The children not only got to complete a science experiment but also learnt the science behind it. The activity in Room 15 was 'Blowing Up Balloons using CO2'. We had a blast mixing baking soda with vinegar in a bottle and then quickly putting the balloon on top, then watching it blow up on its own!
